We’ve been conducting the PNC Economic Outlook study for over 20 years, and this spring’s wave finds that nearly eight out of 10 business owners are optimistic about prospects for their own business, little changed from last fall. Half are optimistic about the national economy, just under survey-high levels captured in 2024. Importantly, business owners have been consistently optimistic post-pandemic, an indicator that we attribute to resilience.
All is not rosy: Inflation is the primary concern, and intentions to hire are down significantly from spring of 2024.
