Artemis Strategy Group is a dispersed team: our crew is distributed in multiple states across the country. So when we’re all together, we cherish it. Recently we met to christen our new office space (at 1100 Vermont Avenue NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20005) and took the opportunity to visit some statues of our namesake goddess at the National Gallery, less than a mile and a half’s walk away.
We wrote about how Artemis represents strength, accuracy, nurturing and protection in this post from 2012. Each of these attributes is relevant to the way in which we help our clients develop communications strategies. We find that taking the time to reflect on Artemis—by visiting her in the National Gallery or drinking a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon bearing her name or looking to a token of her on our desks—reminds us why we chose to do our work under her name and, ultimately, why we love doing what we do.
Similarly, having a symbol or icon that represents the ideals of your organization can help you keep your brand, your communications and even your day-to-day to-do list on track and in check.
Do any of you do this? What symbols, icons, tokens, ideals do you use to inspire your work?
