Global Atlantic 2025 Retirement Outlook Survey: Investors' top 5 financial concerns

Global Atlantic 2025 Retirement Outlook Survey

Our clients at Global Atlantic recently released the results of their 2025 retirement outlook survey, with the goal of examining investors’ attitudes toward issues that could have an impact this year. We conducted this survey of 1,009 investors age 55–75 with $250K to $1M in investable assets who currently work with a financial professional. This year’s study added a second sample of 514 financial professionals, providing a point of comparison for investors’ perceptions.

Key findings include the following:

  • A majority of investors are concerned about outliving their assets: 67% are concerned about their income lasting their lifetime, with 30% saying they are extremely or very concerned.
  • Rising healthcare costs and inflation are among the top concerns of investors saving for retirement. Specifically, 90% of survey respondents are worried about rising healthcare expenses, and 89% are concerned about inflation’s impact on spending power. Market volatility, recession and higher interest rates are this group’s next biggest financial concerns.
  • 76% of respondents expressed concern about Social Security providing full benefits for life.
  • Investors say that when they talk with their financial professionals, diversification is a main topic of conversation.

The study press release provides an overview of the findings. This is our third year conducting this study for Global Atlantic; find summaries of the 2024 results here and the 2023 results here.
